The web is constantly evolving and improving and with that comes updated and improved web browsers. Here at DotCom Your Event we are sometimes asked what browsers Event Wizard works best in. While we've optimized Event Wizard for current versions of all major browsers, there are features within the software that work better in some over others. Why? Well, the short answer is, some are better than others.
Let's quickly start from scratch. What is a web browser?
"A web browser or Internet browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web." Wikipedia
Now, why is it important to keep up to date with latest versions? Keeping up to date will ensure your web browser can support the latest in features, has up to date security and bug fixes, and it encourages improvements and innovation in web design. Event Wizard supports the latest versions of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari, as well as Internet Explorer 7+.
To get the best experience using Event Wizard we recommend the following browsers (and want you to steer clear of one):
Google Chrome (free download)
- Auto-updates to latest version so you don't have to
- Extremely secure
- Simple interface: more space to view the page you're on
- Leading support for new web elements (ie: CSS3, HTML5, etc.)*
- Super fast graphic/page rendering and JavaScript engine
- Constantly being updated and refined to work with latest web technologies
Mozilla Firefox (free download)
- Auto-updates to latest version so you don't have to
- Extremely secure
- Excellent support for new web elements (ie: CSS3, HTML5, etc.)*
- Fast page rendering and excellent JavaScript engine
- Constantly being updated and refined to work with latest web technologies
Why to avoid Internet Explorer 6 (and IE7 in many cases)

- Not secure, notoriously prone to hacks
- No HTML5/CSS3 support (even in the latest version - v9.0 beta, released nearly
10 years after 6.0 - there is limited support for these elements*) - Slow (ie: graphics/DOM rendering, JavaScript speed, etc.)
- Higher CPU/system resource usage than competitors
- Microsoft is slow to fix bugs/security issues
- Display issues (ie: Broken box model, CSS & positioning, png transparencies, etc.)
- Not supported or used by many major internet-based organizations such as Google, YouTube.com and IBM
- Ongoing list of other sites not supporting IE6: www.idroppedie6.com
Need some help finding your browser version? No problem, here's how you can check it in most popular browsers on both Mac and PC:
How to check your browser version on Mac (Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Safari):
- Open your browser
- Click the main application menu in the top menu bar - (the name of the application in bold, right beside the apple menu in the top left corner)

How to check your browser version on PC (Chrome/Firefox/Opera/Internet Explorer):
